Everyone dreams of the best life. While “best” is a relative concept depending on your mindset, dreams and goals, but for us, the best life is the ability to enjoy the moment without worrying for the future.
Obligations and responsibilities are something we never signed up for growing up but are shoved down our throats forcefully by none other than life. Regrettably, life does not come with a user manual but we can steer it in whatever direction we choose. So here are the (very) basic tips we learn from the many life coaching seminars, financial planning activities and daily mentorship we took part of. From two struggling millenials to another, we can have the best life we ever dreamed of.

Work. Admit it or not, the best experiences in life often involve the use of cash and money is the sole medium to survive this capitalistic world. We can never depend on others for our survival nor wait for a miracle to happen while doing nothing. So it is natural for men and women to look for means of income to put food on the table, roof on their heads and clothes on their bare skin.
Work does not have to be boring nor dreadful and it does not have to be energy-consuming. If you have work as of the moment and it still feels unrewarding, learn to look for the beauty of it and see situations with silver lining. (Hello Ms. Catriona!) Each profession, occupation and employment matters when many people depend on your functions. Strive hard to learn more to achieve career and professional growth. If possible, devise ways to create another stream of income, you can use your hobby as your milking cow or apply for part time online jobs in line with your interests. The more you love your work, the easier and the faster it is done. Fuel your passion to ignite your purpose by doing what you love and loving what you do.

Save. Spoil yourself first before spending money for others. Your hard-earned money are acquired through your blood, tears, and sweat and there is no one more fitting to reap the rewards of your hard work other than yourself. Adopt a saving formula that fits your cash in-flow and stick with it. Our financial advisor once told us that budget plans need not be itemized, you just have to allocate a certain percentage of your gross earnings to your savings and you are already budgeting your money without being aware of it. You can always adjust the percentage that goes to your savings or spending depending on what is comfortable and available to you. What’s important is you have to save first before you spend no matter how small or big your income is. Stick with your saving formula, it’s a must.

Personal Note: We allocate ten (10%) percent of our income for tithing. After all he is the third person in our relationship and our dependable business partner. He gave everything to us, so why not give a portion of our income to him? Do it yourself and God will bless you abundantly!
Invest. While saving is important, investing to paper assets is the wisest choice anyone can make. Bank deposits are great as emergency fund but it can only provide linear growth which can never keep up with inflation rates. Grow your earnings exponentially and let your money work for you. Invest in stocks, bonds and other means of passive income and earn while you sleep. Protect yourself and your savings from all the uncertainties and certainties of life through insurances. Attend financial seminars to cultivate your learning and increase your knowledge. Have a life coach to assist you in your financial cash flow and life goals, these advisers will be happy to help you. Prepare for your future with your investments and your older self will thank your younger self in the years to come.
Important note: Investment return often takes years. Open a bank account as an emergency fund worth 6 months of your salary for immediate needs.
Enjoy. Life is not all about work and those monotonous desks, tedious cubicles and mountain of paper works. Life is more than that. While earning money is important, enjoying life is priceless. Break lose from the chains of work once in a while to regain your sanity. In this fast-paced world, take a moment to slow down and chill. Spend time with your loved ones, devote a time to pamper yourself, go on a vacation and see places you have never been to before. Create memories and cherish every moment, you only live once so make the most out of it.
Repeat. Life is not all that bad my friend. There is no hard and fast rule in succeeding in life or surviving this capitalistic world, you just have to understand how it works.
